What you need to know    If you believe you need treatment and are wondering what to do next, here are some things to consider before you make your first appointment regarding admission.

  1. You must be an adult with no criminal history of violent or sex offenses.

  2. You must qualify financially. There are different forms of payment that ARA will accept.
    A) Self-pay (arrangements to be made with Executive Director. Call Jack Gaskill at 208-522-6012).
    B) State assistance: A person must first complete a phone screening with the state to determine eligibility (1-800-922-3406) prior to admission.
    C) Some people who do not qualify for the first two forms of payment may apply for United Way funds (eligibility determined by Executive Director. Call Jack Gaskill at 208-522-6012).
    D) ARA has contracts for treatment and transitional living through the Idaho Department of Corrections. Your caseworker or counselor along with ARA clinical staff determines eligibility for these programs. You must be enrolled or have completed treatment successfully inside of prison to access this program.

  3. ARA does not accept insurance, Medicaid or Medicare as forms of payment for treatment.

  4. You must complete a full assessment of your addiction issues before admission into treatment. Appointments can be made for an assessment by contacting Sid Hamrick via telephone (208-522-6012), mail (see mailing address at top of this webpage) or email.

  5. The average wait from point of first contact to admission is five to 14 days for self-pay, and 45 to 90 days for people accessing state assistance. This extended wait time is accounted for by the high volume of Idaho residents accessing the state treatment system.

  6. The average stay in treatment is between six to eight weeks.

  7. You will need to have had a Tuberculosis test done within the eight months prior to your admission date. You will not be admitted to treatment without the results of that test.
