Financial Information
The number one obstacle to treatment is the cost. ARA was founded to try and make access to treatment affordable at the residential level of care. The Board of Director’s (we are a not-for-profit) is very serious about making help available at the lowest cost possible, and in some cases at reduced or no fee. We are a member of the United Way agencies of the local area and do have funding through that source for helping people enter treatment.
We do not have any connections to traditional health insurance. The reason is that health insurance carriers require that the facility have on-site medical care available. We are State licensed but do not have a physician or nursing staff on site. We do maintain a connection to local medical clinic and will make prompt referrals for any medical condition that needs attention. The trade off for us is the ability to maintain rates that are more affordable. To that we add the ability to try and work with families or clients to structure payment plans that can hopefully make treatment possible.
Before any one assumes that the cost is going to be to high call and see what we might be able to do. We are not in the business of trying to “sell” treatment to anyone. We are in the business of trying to help the potential client or family of the potential get the kinds of information that will help them make informed decisions. Residential treatment may or may not be the level of care that is necessary. Treatment might be indicated, but the situation my not lend itself to make it a real possibility. We certainly do not have all the answers, but we might be in a position to help in finding answers either by suggesting other facilities or by suggesting steps that might be needed before the person is ready to enter treatment.
In round numbers treatment at ARA runs on the order of $1,000 per week, but the variations on the amount are numerous. The key is to make no assumptions about either the cost or the kind of steps necessary to get help started. While the first steps are important, the most important step is to decide that something must be done and make the resolution to make a start in changing the situation.
